"Catena Alta 2002 ($45) costs significantly more, but then it's a remarkably complete wine, displaying an elegance and finesse to which few malbecs even aspire. This special-occasion wine, while delicious now, should get even better with five years or so in bottle."

Highly Recommended.Dense, with roasted cocoa bean, bittersweet chocolate, black currant and blackberry flavors, and a long, powerful finish held together by tongue-pounding tannins. Well-defined now, this should get better in the medium term. Drink now through 2007.
